You might be wondering, what is an omega-3 fatty acid and why would I want it? You see, not all fat is bad for you, there are good fats and bad fats. Polyunsaturated fats are fats that are essential to human health, yet cannot be produced by our bodies, so they must be obtained from the food we eat. Omega-3 fats are a family of polyunsaturated fatty acids and has been proven to provide several health benefits.
It is recommended that people have two servings of fish per week to obtain sufficient amounts of EPA and DHA and maintain a well balanced healthy diet.
In terms of Kersen products,
approximately 4 grams of omega-3 can be obtained by eating:
- 1 can of Kersen's Wild Canadian Steamed Mackerel Fillets in Sunflower Oil (190g)
- 1 can of Kersen's Wild Canadian naturally Smoked Mackerel Fillets(190g)
approximately 3 - 3.5 grams of omega-3 can be obtained by eating:
- 1 can of Kersen's Wild Canadian Steamed Herring Fillets in Tomato Sauce (200g)
- 1 can of Kersen's Wild Canadian Steamed sardine Fillets in Sunflower Oil (200g)
- 1 can of Kersen's Wild Canadian Naturally Smoked Kipper Fillets (190g)
approximately 1.5 grams of omega-3 can be obtained by eating:
- 1 can of Kersen's Wild Canadian Steamed Sardine Fillets in Sunflower Oil (100g)
- 1 can of Kersen's Wild Canadian Steamed peppered herring Fillets (92g)
- 1 can of Kersen's Wild Canadian Naturally Smoked Kipper Snacks (100g)
